The creation of the winery was inspired by the leading world examples and the desire of the owners to revive the traditions and the quality products of our country. The wines of Borovitza winery are a symbiosis between the unique terroir of the region and the talent and creativity of the oenologists who make them. What are we going to do? 

  • Adriana Srebrinova – owner and oenologist of the winery, will introduce you to the basics of wine tasting.
  • Among the wines which will be tastes are 2 new blends of the winery that have not yet been presented on the market.

Organised visit and a lecture of the "Lepenitsa" cave Emil Tsankov

Belogradchik

The “Lepenitsa” cave is located in the middle of the Belogradchik rocks, among the sanctuary complex in Makarshtnitsa. It is estimated to be 8000 – 8500 years old, with the oldest artifacts found in it being around 7000 years old. The cave is an outstanding example for the geological processes which formed the region, and its beautiful chambers, colonnades, network of halls hidden under the surface are a stunning continuation of the visible part of the complex.

What are we going to do?

  • We leave from a meeting point in the center of Belogradchik – the parking lot in front of Hotel “Skalite”.
  • The approach to the cave is reached with your own transport, after which there is a light walk – around 40 minutes.
  • We will visit the cave, and our guide Emil will tell us about the Thracian sanctuaries & the stories and legends related to the region.

Visit of an ethnographic collection and woodcarving workshop Atelier Chavdar Antov

The woodcarving workshop will be held in Chavdar Antov’s studio in Melyane village. Chavdar not only works in his atelier, but he’s also built an open-air museum with interesting woodcarving works, saved from various places – old churches and neighbourhoods. Chavdar himself is an artist, dedicated to the increasingly rare craft of woodcarving. Here is some more information about him: http://antovart.com/

His atelier is reached with personal transport and we will provide you with its GPS location.

What are we going to do?

  • A short lecture on traditional Bulgarian crafts, the use of wood to make various tools from the everyday lives of people in the past and a tour of the open-air museum.
  • Woodcarving lesson – every participant will carve their letter on a wooden stand, learning about the different carving tools and techniques.

Teodor is a hereditary beekeeper who inherited the craft from his grandfather. His apiary is located in the “Zapaden Balkan” region of the Natura 2000 network. Teodor has been a beekeeper since 2002. Six years in, this hobby of his turned into a profession. With the financial aid of the “For the Balkan and the people” project, Teodor has built a modern room for processing the obtained honey.

What are we going to do?

  • Visiting an apiary, where a honeycomb will be harvested.
  • A story about the life of bees – how they are raised, how to keep them and other interesting information on beekeeping.
  • A demonstration of unsealing a honeycomb and extracting the honey.

Belogradchik

The “Kozarnika” cave is located in the area of Belogradchik. It is a relatively small cave – about 200 meters long, but it is one of the most important prehistoric objects in Bulgaria and Europe. It has been studied without interruption since 1998 to this day by a Bulgarian-French expedition, led by the Bulgarian archaeologist Nikolai Sirakov and Frenchman Jean-Luc Guadelli. The artifacts from the “Kozarnika” cave are the earliest traces of human presence in Europe and show that the settlement of the European continent began on the Balkans.

What are we going to do?

  • We leave from a meeting point in the center of Belogradchik – the parking lot in front of Hotel “Skalite”.
  • The approach to the cave is reached with your own transport, after which there is a light walk – around 20 minutes.
  • A visit of the “Kozarnika” cave follows, accompanied by a story about the oldest population in Europe, Thracian sanctuaries, history, legends and mysteries about the region, its energy charge and impact.

Another event you can visit is the Festival “Rivers of the city – Ruse” 2022. Its opening is on May 27-29. After that, the place remains there throughout the entire season until the end of September.
